Co-captain DeWayne Esson set the tone of the game at coin toss with allowing the opposing team, Lambda Chi Alpha, have the choice of either offense or defense even though the Phi Delts won. Phi Delts played in one of the most worst climatic atmospheres this season with hard rain and temperatures dropping into the mid 40’s. In the first defense series by Phi Delta Theta, middle linebacker, Nathan Steinacher, goes down grasping his knee in pain. Steinacher walked off the field on his own strength, results were negative for broken bones but MRI results showed that he suffered major ligament damage and will have to undergo season ending surgery. Nathan Steinacher was placed on the IR early Monday morning after team doctors determined that he will not be able to make a full recovery by playoffs. With the injury in the game veteran Chad Dempsey (Center) replaced Nathan and moved DeWayne Esson to Linebacker and Chad played defensive back. Due to sudden change in personal rookie Lambda Chi wide out had a 35 yard reception with a touch down saving tackle by Chad Dempsey to place the Lambda Chi’s at the 5 yard line. On 2nd goal defensive back/linebacker DeWayne Esson intercepted, due to the great rushing attack from Bob Wolfey and Jermey Schenepper, which would be the last time Lambda Chi be in the red zone for the rest of the game. On Phi Delta Theta first offensive series, Beau Parsons threw a pass to wide receiver Drew Matthews on a fly route which was which he invertedly deflected into the hands of Colton Vincent for a 25 yard gain. On the very next play Colton Vincent, All-State wide reciever receieved a 35 yard touchdown play from Beau Parsons to continue his streak of 10 consecuctive catches without a drop. Defense was once led by leadership from Drew Matthews and defensive line mans Jeremy Schneppner and Bob Wolfey. Also, rookie quarterback, Beau Parsons led three scoring drives to defeat Lambda Chi 20-o. Phi Delta Theta plays again tonight to seal home field advantage in the playoffs against Alpha Sigma Phi @ 9:40.
